Inside

I knocked and knocked
on the door to heaven
knowing the owner
was presently home

I waited and waited
for what felt like
a lifetime and more
for an answer
or simple sign showing
that I was welcome
to enter and rest.

Sadly, it never came.

And in my frustration,
when I turned away
I recognized my foolishness
upon realizing that
I was already inside
